Stretching
Now this might be a bit retarded, but what's the deal with stretching? Is it like weight training where you stress, recover, grow? Do you need to sensibly structure your stretching? Or will you just get more results the more you stretch?
Re: Stretching
Stretching is similar to training, as in there are different methods that will achieve different things in different ways. It doesn't necessarily need to be periodised, but when and how to use different methods needs to be taken into account.
In short, dynamic before training, static and/or isometric after training - what types of flexibility you will need to work on, how often etc will depend on your goals and current situation.
As I said before, I recommend Stretching Scientifically (click to view/order) as a good book which goes into plenty of detail about all types of stretching and when to use them.
