CNS Stress
What factors influence CNS stress?
How do volume, intensity and frequency of training affect things? Which exercises place the most stress on the nervous system?
What are the most effective methods of calming the nervous system?

Re: CNS Stress
Long topic, I spent over an hour talking about this at a recent seminar.
In short:
Dosage and duration of stress will determine CNS fatigue
They will all affect the situation, but in different ways. High intensity will generally cause more strain than high volume (on the CNS). Frequency will become a problem if it is so high that recovery is inhibited.
Those which use the most muscle. Think of the CNS as like a car battery. Bicep curls are the equivalent of leaving the glove box light on - they can be done often and for a long time before anything noticeable will happen. Deadlifts are the equivalent of turning the starter motor - they can only be done for a short period before totally draining the battery, which needs time to recharge before it can perform and the same level again.
The most effective are different for each person, but I like hot/cold showers, massage/tissue work and pine baths. Relaxation, sleep and mediation are also very useful and often overlooked.
