Re: best meal replacement for weight loss
Hi Donna, good to see you here!
Hopefully Milner (Sports-Select) will see this and post, as I am not up on meal replacements - here's why:
I have always used standard protein powder as a staple in my diet/supplementation and simply changed the amount of carbs depending on the goals. For instance, if bulking up I would have a pint glass of oats in a shake, with 2 scoops of whey and mixed with milk. If trying to drop weight I might go right back down to just a single scoop of whey in water.
When I looked into it (although this was a long time ago), meal replacements were basically just protein and sugar (dextrose or maltodextrin), so I decided to go the oats route to lower my chances of giving myself diabetes in a few years!
If anyone has any other ideas let me know!
Hope that helps,
Alex.

Re: best meal replacement for weight loss
Donna,
I would (and do!) follow Precision Nutrition guidelines when the goals are to improve health and drop body fat.
Regarding shakes, I would suggest 0.5g protein and carbs per kilo of body weight in the post workout shake for fat loss goals. The content of other shakes would depend on the timing of them.
I suggest downloading the free starter ebook from PN and implementing the basics - also possibly buying the system if you feel it can be of use to you. The free ebook will get you started at least though.
