Suggestions for training for 'Tough Guy'
I'm competing in this www.toughguy.co.uk in the middle of July, so have around 13 weeks to get ready.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubwfhWl7D3o
it seems to basically be a cross country run followed by two laps of a big assault course.
I'm fairly fit, been doing mma 3 times a week, power lifting background and still quite strong for my weight (78kg),
any suggestions as to what might be the best way to get prepared for something like this?
I'll put a journal up if anyone fancies laughing at my efforts!
Thanks in adavnce for any suggestions..

Ooh that'll be fun...
A guy I know did one - I think the higher you can push your anaerobic threshold the better for this.
Yep, why not start a journal!

I'll put a journal up now, then I better look into a bit of anaerobic training. Went for a run this morning in order to get started and I didn't realise how much more effort is required to run on uneven ground compared to tarmac. Feel a few twisted ankles on the horizon.
Any ideas where to start with the anaerobic side of things? Sprints etc the way to go for that?

Not much of a piece of advice but I'll say it anway. Since you are training for Tough Guy, stick to running, don't start using cycling, cross trainers or rowers for "fitness" being better at running will make you a better runner than being "fitter."
Re: Suggestions for training for 'Tough Guy'
Good point and to be honest I'm not much a fan of machine work like that, I'd much rather get out and do something. I'm going to do concentrating on running as there's a cross country run involved, but like you say, I don't need to worry about general 'fitness' level being brought on by rowing etc as it's pretty specific other than the assault course which should be covered by bodyweight strength training (pull ups etc), I'll do some simple barbell/dumbell work too.
I'll keep the running in there and add some strength training.
Thanks for the input
