Absolute Gold Sleds
Alex, would it be possible to weld a handle similar to the prowlers low handle to my sled so i could do some pushes as well as dragging? My knowledge of metalwork/welding etc is zero so wondered if you had a view before i went any further down this route? Would the metal the sled is made with hold a weld, would this be sufficient for me >100kg to try and push serious weight around on it?
Cheers

The question would be where would you put the handle.
The weld would be no problem, the metal would have to be properly prepared and it'd need grinding down/painting afterwards...but there's not much spare space on the footprint of the sled.

I'll have to check spacing, i had assumed there would be space in the two rear corners for the uprights although recently ive just been chucking a pair of KBs onto the sled and not plates.

I still haven't checked the spacing, but founds this on T-Nation http://tnation.tmuscle.com/free_online_forum/sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding_strength/cheap_strongman_training?id=3007736&pageNo=1

Hmm, not sure there's much physics knowledge involved in that design, looks like it'd tip up rather than go anywhere. If I were planning this, I'd put 2x12-15" bars up from around the back corners and a crossbar across....again, not sure that'd work or there would be enough space.
What I did in the end was got a prowler made

I've checked the sled with a 20kg plate on it and there does appear to plenty of room to weldvertical bars into place in the corners. WOuldn't be able to fit a cross bar though as the 20kg plates virtually touches the rear of the sled
