Egg Intolerance

Post  Sarah Dewar on Mon 6 Apr 2009 - 21:24

I think I have developed an egg intolerance, if this is possible?!

I have thought for some time that eggs have disagreed with me. I have been 4 days without, and eaten nothing with eggs in, and have felt great. Today I tried an omelette and have suffered since with a really painful bloated (massive!!) tummy Sad I had it with broccoli but I'm sure it isn't that.

Anyone heard of this happening?........... I used to be okay. I have the same problem now when I eat fish too Sad

Poliquin loves to go on about people developing egg intolerances...apparently if you eat them for long enough you will develop one. Not might, of course.

Anyway the solution is to stop eating them for a while, then reintroduce and things should have magically been fixed. Rotating foods is a good idea in general really.

I developed an intolerance to peanuts, fucking nasty that was - bloated stomach, then shits and finally puking. Wasn't sure what it was at first as I was eating mixed nuts. Cut out the peanuts for a few weeks then had some one evening and was up all night with the same symptoms, won't go near em now.

For the record I eat about 21 eggs a week.

Hope you get it sorted soon Princess.

21! think I must be unlucky, I was only eating 2 a day!! I still haven't tried them again, I was thinking of leaving it another week, it took ages for my tummy to settle down so I want a couple of weeks of it feeling okay before I try them.
I hope you are right Alex about this "then reintroduce and things should have magically been fixed"....... I really miss eggs.

I tired eggs yesterday cheers about 20 minutes after I felt really sick and had a headache but tummy didn't feel too bad so I'm quite happy with that believe it or not! I am going to leave it a few days and try again, I think there is going to be a psychological element involved in the outcome as part of me was expecting it to have an effect.

Out of interest, are you trying different sorts of eggs, like free range ?

I generally buy free range eggs, personally I think they taste better.

Ye, I use a combination of cheap (no pun intended) and free range, gets expensive otherwise
