Hi all,

As you may or may not know from reading my online journals, I train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I absolutely love it, and obviously want to progress myself as far as possible. I want to develop a powerful bridge and shrimp to assist with my sweeps and escapes. Firstly, I train BJJ 2-3 times a week depending on work, so I get opportunities to practice my bridging etc. a fair bit in the practice.

However, I would like to add some real bad ass power and explosiveness to my bridging ...

ME work over complexes for fat loss?

Done two weeks now of barbell complexes to start off my fat loss for the TWT. I'm thinking now of going back to my ME routine for several reasons;

1. want to add some strength

2. want to add some muscle

3. in approx. 6 weeks I'm not going to have access to the resources I have now

What do you guys think? I got pretty good results for fat loss last time, though I didn't measure it like I am now.

I have been using FitDay online the last couple of days, and I'm not really happy with it. I think it's pretty clunky and not very flexible. I have heard on here people singing the praises about the desktop version, however on the website the system requirements state it's a windows only programme.

At home in Devon, where I will be moving back to in the coming weeks, I have a Mac. I'm more than happy paying a small price to downlaod a programme such as FitDay, but I have done ...

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard

Looked on a few sites and it has pretty good reviews (except don't get the cookies'n'cream flavour seems to be the hot tip!).

This was the cheapest I found it for - 5lb + free shaker + delivery = £38.45 (delivery was £3.99)

Lots of excuses can be made for bad eating when short on time, on the go, travelling etc but these most of the time ARE excuses, not reasons.

With the proliferation of 'local' supermarkets offering a wide range of stuff, much of which is pre-prepared, you have many healthy choices.

Here is an example meal I have just eaten that requires NO preparation.

I just wanted to get your thoughts regarding this. To start off with, the goal would be physique improvement (decrease bodyfat, and maintain or increase muscle mass) whilst maintaining/ improving sports performance. I guess the main focus would be fat loss, as the way I see it if I decrease my body fat I will increase my sports performance

From my delve into various peoples opinions and various research articles, I have come across the following trains of thought;

1st Question

I've read the Google answers, what's the real difference between sweet / acid whey and is it something I should be worried about yet?

2nd Question

If a post workout shake should contain 1g of protein per kilo of bodyweight, then using a whey protein with 71g protein per 100g, well that means each 25g scoop contains 17.75g protein. As I weigh 107 kilos, that would mean I would need 6 scoops in a PWO shake.

Can that be right or is there an upper limit I should observe?

For starters, some details about the photos - firstly, you do not have to use your real name and the face can be blacked out, if it is a privacy issue. Secondly, the purpose of the photos is to show the changes that occur over the 10 weeks. Photos will show the changes far better than measurements. Photos are also harder to fake, not that I expect anyone to try and cheat.

I have a client who is unpredictable with work etc and can only train two days a week most weeks, three some weeks, one others etc etc. The times and days also move around a bit. With a situation like this writing a massively complicated program is a waste of time, you might as well write it on toilet paper for all the use it'll be in the real world. Sometimes you have to strip it all back and get to the basics.

One of the guys that trains in the gym I supervise was looking to increase his bench. His basic plan was to go in 2-3 times a week and hit it as heavy as possible, but progress was slow at best. He'd gone from 85k to around 95 in about 6 months but was looking to break the 100 barrier, trying a few times but being stapled every time. I'd given him some basic form tips which had helped a bit and since he was responsive to this I decided to knock up something to help the bench press.

I think I have developed an egg intolerance, if this is possible?!

I have thought for some time that eggs have disagreed with me. I have been 4 days without, and eaten nothing with eggs in, and have felt great. Today I tried an omelette and have suffered since with a really painful bloated (massive!!) tummy I had it with broccoli but I'm sure it isn't that.

Anyone heard of this happening?........... I used to be okay. I have the same problem now when I eat fish too

Today I spent most of a session telling a guy why his breakfast was probably setting him back in progress. He eats 'Jordans Country Crisp' every morning. He said:

"It's all natural, it's got real fruit in it"

My reply was:
